Giuseppe Cafasso dedicated his life in consoling, taking confession and often brought sigars from those scheduled to be executed. The inscription at the base reads “Here on gallows circle lays the imposing figure of the Saint Protector of the hanged to remind us that human justice needs to walk alongside Christian Charity “. He also helped the families of the poor souls.

East Flatbush is trying to become a trendy part of town, but we still have people who don’t utilize closets. I find it hard to believe that with all the storage facilities and ample closet space these apts have (I checked them out when they were building them) people have to resort to this shameful and disgusting way to live. Cinco de Mayo is a date of great importance for the Mexican and Chicano communities. It marks the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla. Althought the Mexican army was eventually defeated, the “Batalla de Puebla” came to represent a symbol of Mexican unity and patriotism. With this victory, Mexico demonstrated to the world that Mexico and all of Latin America were willing to defend themselves of any foreign intervention.
